Our Cameras The adjacent photograph, shows the first camera Verwood and Three Legged Cross Watch purchased. It is simple to install and very popular with members. This never sits in a cupboard gathering dust! It is a tiny black and white camera which works off of a Video Recorder (all supplied). There is a choice of 8 lenses depending on what view you require. However it does need a light source outside for best results. We have since purchased a fabulous colour digital camera (see bottom picture) which is wire free and can be used in the rural community or where there is no power supply. It can go up a tree or hidden in a field or someones large garden. It has a solar powered battery charger with it and goes down to 0.3 lux light level (which means it can record in near total darkness. It can also record half a mile away from the base unit! Verwood NHW have the best asset of all watch groups. His name is Howard Zahl and he is a retired Electrician and alarms expert. He sources and builds/repairs all of the watch cameras for cost price Of course this equipment has been purchased over the period of about 3 years using funds collected from members. Each member of the watch donates £1 a year (less than 2p per week) and the money is put towards this and other equipment/initiatives. For £1 a year you could have access to all this and much much more. To borrow the camera please contact

Dorset Police Fight Vehicle Crime with the 25Sign Statistics reveal that 90% of vehicle theft is committed by persons less than 25 years of age whilst 77% of victims are over 25. By displaying 25 stickers, which once affixed are difficult to remove, you are informing the police that the vehicle is normally driven by a person over 25. It also informs any young would-be thief that he or she is liable to be stopped by the police if seen driving the car. Should the police suspect that a vehicle displaying a 25 scheme sticker is being driven by a person under the age of 25, they may stop the vehicle and challenge the driver, who should carry suitable means of identification and authority to use the vehicle. The scheme applies throughout Dorset. Neighbouring police authorities operate similar schemes, with similarly designed stickers, so your vehicle is also likely to be protected in other counties. A 25 pack, which includes 2 stickers, one each for front and rear windscreens, costs £1, and may be obtained from your contact or the Police Station. |
