PACT (Partners and communities together)
We
held our first PACT panel meeting in May. Representatives from EDDC,
Housing, Fire and Rescue, the Youth club and the Chamber of trade were
present. Apologies -were received from the then police
liaison Councillors and District and County Councillors, from the
leisure centre, the LAG and Three Cross Forum and from the Neighbourhood
watch. (I will be forwarding details to the new Town Council police
liaison Councillors.) It was a very productive initial meeting and we
discussed ways that our different agencies and organisations can work
together to deal with issues concerning community safety and that local
people have raised as priorities to them. The initial priorities were
agreed as youth related ASB, focusing on incidents related to alcohol
consumption in the Town centre, speeding vehicles and a community led
clean up to be held at Three Cross in August. The next meeting will be
held in July. There were 5 speed check operations held by local officers
in May, 2 in Manor road, 1 in Ringwood rd, 1 in Margards Lane and 1 in
West Moors rd.
GENERAL.
You
will know that CCTV cameras are now in place at both the Verwood
memorial hall and also the Village hall at Three Cross. Cash was stolen
from a charity event at the Memorial hall earlier in the year. The
offender was identified from these pictures. He is currently on court
bail. More recently youths caused damage to a camera at the Village hall
at Three Cross. Again, from pictures captured the offender has been
identified, interviewed, admitted his offence and will be dealt with
later this month, and I will update further on this case in July. I
would like to offer my thanks to Howard Zahl, Vice Chairman of our
Neighbourhood Watch scheme in Verwood who has assisted the police
greatly in both cases. I am also bound to say that the quality of
pictures from both systems is of a very high value.
